Gift began his work in microinsurance in 2005 after joining Opportunity International Bank where he worked closely with MicroEnsure and the World Bank’s Commodity Risk Management Group in designing and executing crop insurance products for smallholder farmers. While working with the World Bank team, Gift championed the implementation of the weather index insurance with various stakeholders in the agriculture sector between 2005 and 2010. He served as Chairman for the Weather Index Insurance Steering Committee (Malawi) between 2010 and 2015. In 2012 he joined MicroEnsure as Country Manager for Malawi and pioneered the establishment of MicroEnsure Malawi business which subsequently became MicroInsurance Services Ltd, where he designed and executed weather index insurance and other microinsurance products for the mass market.Gift is a seasoned financial services expert, experienced in working with low and middle income market segment in specialised areas of microfinance and microinsurance. He delivered on a number of microinsurance projects using different mass market channels. He is a Chartered Marketer and holder of Master of Science in International Management.
